Role Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of SANY heavy machinery solutions across Guyana. This role demands a strategic leader who can synchronize sales, after-sales service, spare parts logistics, and technical support to ensure UMS remains the premier partner for the construction, mining, agriculture, and transportation sectors.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Fleet & Inventory Management

  • Oversee the procurement and inventory levels of SANY machinery (excavators, cranes, rollers, etc.) to meet market demand.

  • Manage the spare parts supply chain to minimize "Equipment Down Time" (EDT) for clients in remote mining and agricultural locations.

  • Implement digital tracking systems for inventory and fleet movement.

2. Service & Maintenance Excellence

  • Lead the technical service department to ensure all equipment is maintained to SANY’s global standards.

  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs and warranty claim processes.

  • Ensure rapid-response mobile service teams are equipped for on-site repairs in challenging terrains.

3. Business Process & Innovation

  • Streamline operational workflows to improve efficiency from initial inquiry to final delivery.

  • Leverage SANY’s "innovative" edge by introducing telematics and remote monitoring solutions to Guyanese clients.

  • Ensure compliance with local Guyanese regulations and international safety standards.

4. Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performance team of technicians, logistics coordinators, and administrative staff.

  • Foster a culture of "reliability" and "customer-first" service within the operations department.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 7+ years in operations management, specifically within heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery sectors.

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Guyanese landscape, particularly the mining and construction sectors.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP software and heavy machinery diagnostic tools.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage diverse teams and complex logistics in a high-growth market.

Sales Representative

Role Overview

As the Sales Representative for UMS Guyana, you are the face of the SANY brand. In a market as specialized and high-stakes as Guyana's, your role isn't just about selling machines; it's about providing the cutting-edge solutions that keep the country’s infrastructure and extraction industries moving.

You would be is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across Guyana's most critical industries. You will act as a consultant to project managers and business owners, helping them select the right SANY fleet to maximize their ROI. Your goal is to translate SANY’s reputation for performance and innovation into market share growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Prospecting

  • Proactively identify new projects in the mining (gold/bauxite), oil & gas, and civil construction sectors.

  • Conduct site visits across Guyana to understand the specific environmental challenges (e.g., marshy terrain, remote locations) and recommend tailored SANY solutions.

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of leads using CRM tools.

2. Technical Solution Selling

  • Perform product demonstrations and technical presentations for SANY excavators, cranes, and port machinery.

  • Prepare detailed commercial proposals, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and ROI analysis for clients.

  • Negotiate high-value contracts and coordinate with the finance team for equipment leasing/financing options.



3. Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their "reliability" expectations are met post-sale.

  • Coordinate with the Service and Parts departments to ensure clients receive seamless after-sales support.

  • Gather market intelligence on competitor pricing and product performance (CAT, Komatsu, etc.).

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years in B2B technical sales, preferably in heavy machinery, automotive, or industrial equipment.

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Business, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Guyana's mining and construction landscape.

  • Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills; ability to speak the "language" of both site foremen and executive boards.

  • Mobility: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to remote regions (Interior) as needed.

Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of our diesel-powered fleet/equipment. You will use advanced diagnostic software and specialized tools to ensure all vehicles operate at peak performance while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.


Key Responsibilities

Diagnostics: Use computerized diagnostic equipment and engine analyzers to identify mechanical and electrical malfunctions in engines, transmissions, and braking systems.

Repairs: Perform complex repairs including engine overhauls, fuel injection system adjustments, and replacement of turbochargers, pistons, and cooling systems.

Maintenance: Execute routine preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, including oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.

Systems Expertise: Inspect and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, as well as exhaust and emissions control components.

Documentation: Maintain precise digital service records, work logs, and parts inventory using shop management software.

Safety & Compliance: Conduct federal and state-mandated safety inspections and emissions testing to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Test Drives: Operate heavy-duty vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose performance issues under real-world conditions.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: High school diploma or GED required. 

Completion of a Diesel Technology program or vocational degree is highly preferred. Diploma in Heavy duty mechanic.  

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on medium to heavy-duty diesel engines.

Certifications: ASE Diesel Certifications (e.g., T-series) are a significant plus.

Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license. 

Technical Skills: Proficiency with diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, CAT ET) and manual tools (pneumatic wrenches, multimeters, welding equipment).

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in confined or awkward positions.
